The Rise in Addiction and the Effectiveness of Rehabilitation

Unfortunately, addiction rates are on the rise across America. Whether it’s illicit drugs, which rose from 8.3% to 10.6%, or prescribed drugs such as opioids, which has seen quadruple the number of overdoses in the last decade.  Addiction is a vicious mental illness that can lead to a lower quality of life, depression, and even death if left untreated. It can also be difficult to treat because addiction takes over every part of the sufferer’s life and drives them towards getting their next dose. Not all addicts are easy to spot however, and there are many “high-functioning” addicts who keep a normal seeming façade up while under the influence of their chosen substance. The most well-known addict would be an alcoholic or smoker, but there are a variety of substances that people get addicted to such as sleeping pills, relaxants, or opioids. The opioid crisis in particular has sprung into focus in recent times as the number of overdoses continues to rise. Prescription painkillers have become one of the largest killers in the United States and addiction to opioids can seem like a hopeless spiral, but it doesn’t have to be. There are treatment options available, and when cared for in a world-class facility there is every possibility of a complete recovery and a full life. Treating addiction requires a cooperative bond between the afflicted patient and the staff, which is why we take extra care in ensuring that our staff have access to the most comprehensive training we can devise. Addiction can rob someone of their respect for themselves and it can make them feel that no one else respects them either, which is why we focus on creating an accepting atmosphere that promotes a positive mindset. Effective rehabilitation is a constructive environment that proactive handles challenges and stumbling blocks and seeks to build the recovering patient up rather than tear them down.

Treating addiction isn’t a cookie-cutter procedure that can be repeated without accounting for the unique circumstances and challenges faced by each individual who walks into a clinic, and we seek to tailor our treatment to every patient. Our facilities are shaped by a guiding ethos of serenity, understanding, and growth and those same ideas guide our treatments as well. Some recovering addicts respond best in group sessions, while other flourish through individual sessions with dedicated personnel. The treatments available to addicts range from intense sessions of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to Attachment, Regulation, and Competency training. As part of our inclusive treatment options we also offer crisis counseling, interventions, and other critical services to assist patients who are in critical need of help. Regardless of the services you, or a loved one, requires you can be assured that they’ll be provided with the utmost professionalism. Our approach is a systematic construction of positive habits and structures that allows for recovering addicts to spread their own wings and lift themselves as high as they can fly under their own power.
